This marriage certificate is in the Perth Museum archives. It is a small, tightly-rolled, brown paper certificate, typeset mostly in black italics with names, dates and signatures written in black ink. The ink entries are shown here in dark italics.

   St. Lawrence County, ss

                       This may Certify, that Marriage was this day cele=
brated before me, James C. Barter, Esquire, a Justice of the Peace in
and for the county of St. Lawrence in the State of New=York, between Ber
nard Doud and Margery McCaw, both of the Township of Montague, Canada West
they being of lawful age, and no legal impediment therin being shown, or
known by me to exist, pursuant to the Laws of the State of New=York.

    IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand, at OGDENSBURGH, in
           the County and State aforsaid, this Twelfth day of November
           in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred forty four
