Speaker:  Local Author John McKenty returns to LCGS as our Guest Speaker and will talk about the subject of his latest book, Joe Perkins – “The Life & Times of Joe Perkins: 1908 – 1990. He traces the story of Joe Perkins from his days working with his dad at the family’s general store in Maberly, Lanark County, to his arrival in the Town of Perth in 1938, through to his death in an Ottawa hospital in 1990.  Through the assistance and contributions in the form of interviews, feedback and photographs from several members of the Perkins family, helped McKenty’s book came to life.  
Nibbles and Bits: Pizza will be served by the Board of Directors.

Speaker:   Karen Prytula, our newsletter editor, will be speaking to us about George Keyes and his boot and shoe store, which was once located where the Granary now is, 107 & 109 Bridge Street, Carleton Place; with a power-point presentation.

April 4, 2020 – 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm

Speaker:   Ken Watson a local author (tbc) will speak  on the history/preservation of the Rideau Canal and other projects he worked on

May 2, 2020 – 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm

Speaker: Shaun Peppy (TBC) his Topic is the political history of Carleton County & Lanark County, and some of its more interesting candidates, representatives, and elections over the years.

June 2020 
plans are underway for our annual Genealogy Jamboree @ Beckwith Park,

Key Note Speakers are Adam and Brian Dowdall. “Just give Adam a metal detector, some tools, collection bottles, good hiking boots, and a few kilometers, you will be amazed at the local historical artifacts he has unearthed and preserved.” Adam with the assistance of his father Brian will bring a few surprises finds to light. Make sure you pay a visit to the display tables after their presentation.
